OYO The Gissons Hotel

Location is very good. Easy free parking. Staff are helpful and nice. Rooms very clean. Kettle and tea coffee facilities in the room. Hair dryer in the room. Negatives are, bar is not open permanently, also no food/restaurant, is closed permanently. I asked the reception if I could borrow x2 wine glasses to take to our room, and they were happy to accommodate me. Also, as you come out of the hotel, turn left, and 0.2 mile on the road, there is a bar and restaurant in a holiday camp, and they are very happy for your custom. Also, 1 mile away, there is a wonderful pub that does fantastic food, called Ley Arms, which is really worth a visit. The hotel was good value for money. Nice big and very comfortable bed.

The manager was very helpful and friendly, he went out of his way to help, for instance the famiy room at the top of the building was quite warm, although having 2 fans in there, there was also an air conditioning unit which needed an extension cable to reach the electric socket, on arrival the cable was missing and the manager/guy on shift popped out to get us 1, which made for a more comfortable stay. The hotel is by a busy road, so some noise is to be expected, also the family room which was quite spacious and suited our needs happened to be on the side of the hotel facing the road. There may be rooms which are shielded more from the traffic. We ate out, so lack of food facilities was not a problem for us.

Everything met our expectations, immaculate, quiet, off street parking, the manager extremely helpful, giving us information about the area & the best place to park in Exeter.

Excellent size room with all amenities. Very clean and comfortable. FYI £15-25 to get to Exeter central but taxis can be booked up at UOE graduation times
